Dental Implants for Bellevue, WA
Are Dental Implants Right for You?
When you have a missing tooth or teeth, it can have a real effect on your confidence, as well as your oral health. You may feel embarrassed to smile or hide your mouth when you laugh. Well, at DoctorPerio, we have a solution, and the clue is in our name. We offer dental implants as an effective and long-lasting solution to missing teeth.
A dental implant is a titanium post (similar to a tooth root) that is surgically placed into the jawbone beneath the gum line allowing replacement teeth or bridges to be mounted to that area.
Implants do not have to be anchored to other teeth like traditional bridges, nor do they have the ability to come loose like dentures. Because they fuse to your jawbone, they provide stable support for artificial, natural-looking teeth.
Generally speaking, if you are missing any number of teeth, you are a good candidate for dental implants. However, the best candidates are in good health and have adequate jawbone structure.

How Do Dental Implants Work?
We use the latest technology for dental implants in Bellevue, WA
After your implant consultation, our Bellevue periodontists will use a CBCT scanner to accurately plan your dental implants. This scanner gives our experts a 3D view of your mouth, including your jawbone.
Using the 3D image, we can plan out the exact procedure for a more predictable outcome! The procedure has three parts:
Preparation: The area where the implant is to be inserted is cleaned, numbed and prepped. Your Bellevue dentist then uses the 3D images to identify the best angle for placement, and a hole is made for the new implant (as needed).
Placement: The created implant is carefully placed into your jawbone using our surgical technology. Once in place, some time needs to pass for the implant to bond with your jawbone.
Restoration: When the implant is solidly in place, your dentist uses an abutment to connect your implant to your new restoration. Then your replaced tooth is ready to go!
Implant-Retained Dentures
Dental implants can be used as a foundation for permanent dentures that snap-on to the titanium posts. These full dentures offer an array of benefits over their removable counterparts such as:
- Improved stability for your oral health
- Prevention of bone deterioration
- Stops teeth shifting
- Easy maintenance
- Long-lasting and durable smile
- Improved functionality
The dentures are custom-made and simply connect to the implants so they hug the gumline for an improved look and experience.
Sinus Augmentation
With the loss of upper back teeth, sinuses often enlarge. As a result, this can impede the ability to place dental implants as the sinus is an air-filled space, and dental implants need to be surrounded by solid bone.
A sinus augmentation is a surgical procedure that returns the sinus cavity to its original position and replaces the bone that has been lost. The new bone graft takes about six to nine months to heal before the dental implants can be placed.
Bone Grafting
When there is insufficient bone quantity to support dental implants, a biocompatible membrane between the gum and bone is placed. This acts as a barrier and prevents down growth of the gum into the underlying bone as it heals.
In some cases, a bone graft or tissue-stimulating proteins may be placed under the membrane to encourage your body’s natural ability to regenerate bone and tissue. Within a few weeks, the membranes around the teeth should dissolve or reabsorb.
I love the staff and doctors. They are very professional and courteous. I will recommend them to anyone who has periodontic problems.
