Stop the progression of gum disease

Periodontal surgery removes infection and bacteria hiding deep in the gumline, preventing further damage and helping stop the disease from spreading to other parts of your mouth and body.

By treating gum pockets and securing loose teeth, this procedure can help preserve your natural teeth—avoiding extractions and costly replacements.

Boost your oral and overall health

Healthy gums are connected to a healthier body and are essential for a healthy smile. Treating gum issues has been linked to improved heart health, reduced inflammation, and better blood sugar control.

Create a foundation for dental implants

If you’ve lost teeth because of periodontal disease, surgery can prepare your mouth for dental implants by rebuilding lost bone and gum tissue.

Pocket Depth Reduction

A healthy smile has teeth firmly surrounded by gum tissue and supported by strong jawbones. However, gum disease damages these tissues and bones, creating spaces around your teeth called “pockets.”

Larger pockets allow for bacteria and food particles to easily collect inside them. This can lead to more damage.

Eventually, your tissues and bones begin to degrade. You may experience tooth loss or extreme damage to your teeth.

Pocket reduction surgery goes into your gum tissues to remove bacteria and hardened plaque, and tartar.

Any tissue that’s too damaged may be removed. Then, your healthy tissue will be sewn back into place. Your gums will reattach to your teeth once the tooth root is free of bacteria and plaque.

We use a local anesthetic and offer sedation options for a virtually pain-free procedure.

Regeneration

Regeneration restores your bone and tissues supporting teeth that have been lost from severe periodontal disease.

During this procedure, we’ll remove bacteria, plaque, and tartar under your gum tissue.

Depending on the severity of your situation, a bone graft may be recommended to stimulate new bone growth. Or, we may apply a special protein to stimulate tissue growth to repair the surrounding areas.

Soft Tissue Graft
Soft Tissue Graft

Gum recession is a common symptom of gum disease. This means your gum tissues recede and expose more of your tooth roots.

This causes your teeth to appear longer and creates higher sensitivity to hot or cold temperatures. In addition, it’ll expose your tooth to an increased risk of damage from bacteria, plaque, and tartar.

With a soft tissue graft, we’ll remove a small amount of tissue from either the top of your mouth or another viable source. Then, we’ll sew it to the gum area to protect exposed roots and restore your gum line to its original location.

This can be used for cosmetic purposes too for those who don’t like how their gums look when they smile.
